Freedom of speech refers to the government and its ability to pass laws/prosecute people regarding things they say. I.E. You can go to jail for yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater but not for saying the "President is an idiot". This is a privately owned website and the owner can set whatever restrictions they like. And as a user you agree to these restrictions by using the site. Implied consent. So, no his comment does not fall under freedom of speech.

We have to be reasonable in how we interpret things, because if you grip too tight in how people talk, then you'll lose that grip entirely.

Second, that's a pretty terrible excuse, considering that is indeed the same person, just with a different gender. Everything else about Page is exactly the same. All it sounds like is an excuse to exclude the transgender community from the foot fetish community.

Third, this isn't a foot "fetish" site, because "fetish" is sexual and the site doesn't allow such content, regardless of what the majority of users sees this site as (with the exception of wikiFeet X). |

He didn't use their pre-transition name just for the sake of using it. The main wikifeet has plenty of trans women if you will only look. So your claim of transphobia doesn't exactly hold water. And of course, lastly, if they request their pre-transition pics to be removed, that should be respected. They also have the right to request a full takedown of the gallery if they wish. Don't jump the gun and accuse people of various things before being sure.

For the straight guys here like me, let me tell you something. Sex and gender are quite different from each other. Sexuality absolutely has to do with appearance. That is secondary sex characteristics (body structure, facial hair, voice). If you like Elliot Page as is now, you will not like Elliot Page as he will be if he grows a beard, has breast augmentation and change all the rest of his secondary sex characteristics. I guarantee you this. Therefore, if you would totally go with Elliot Page under his current appearance, you are still straight 100%. But let me say something else, as well. If your sexuality is so fickle that it shakes when confronted with such simple conditions, and it makes you feel so uneasy that you feel the need to bash the person who triggered it, you have some issues and you should look into them. I say this as a psychologist. |
